So since I picked up the new Canon 5D Mark IV, I wanted to take it on a test run and see how well it performed at night without the use of any off camera flash. The objective for this session was to see how well it would perform in lowlight conditions using only the available street lights. I figured a perfect spot to do this was in the Suisan City Center with my wife as the model.
I had high hopes for this camera and I wasn’t dissapointed. As you can see from the pictures the camera worked brilliantly for the conditions we had. I only did minimal post production on the computer; played with the white balance and the normal exposure, contrast, etc…
I love doing night sessions, I think they change the mood of the shot and give it a different feeling. I thnik most people stay away from it because you light sources are very limited if you don’t have your own off camera light sources. In turn they are afraid to take the chance and step outside or their comfort zone. I love taking risks and this time it definitely paid off. I can’t wait to do another night session with this camera but this time I will bring my own lighting and create a totally different mood.
